H-E-B LP received the final approval needed to plant two of its concepts in Garland, further expanding its footprint in the region.
The San Antonio-headquartered retail giant plans to construct a 115,000-square-foot traditional H-E-B store at the corner of Crist Road next to the Firewheel Town Center off President George Bush Tollway and a 50,000-square-foot Joe V’s Smart Shop at the corner of W. Centerville Road and Broadmoor Drive.
The Garland City Council approved development agreements for both stores during a May 19 meeting.
The Joe V’s location specifically will add occupancy to a shopping center dealing with high vacancy after anchor tenant Kroger left about 20 years ago. Joe V’s, a concept by H-E-B, typically has smaller stores with fewer products, allowing the grocer to expand into new areas at a lower cost.
