San Antonio Zoo seeks revenge against OKC Zoo after it sent an African Wild Dog named Thunder

With Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals hours away, the San Antonio Zoo and the Oklahoma City Zoo have entered a friendly wager.

The zoo whose basketball team loses the series will be required to fly the other team’s flag for a full business day.

Fair enough, but the bet is only part of an ongoing feud between the two zoos, San Antonio Zoo President Tim Morrow told the Current.

“Back in 2018, they sent us three African wild dogs that were going into our Africa Live area,” Morrow told The Current. “One of them was named Thunder. We knew that was a direct shot at us.”

Indeed, Morrow and the rest of the crew at the San Antonio Zoo have never forgotten the snarky shot.

“We’ve been waiting for payback for eight years now, and so hopefully we can hit back at them by winning the Western Conference Finals.

Morrow said he firmly believes the Spurs will win the series in five games but acknowledged it could drag to six, depending on the officiating.

“Sometimes it’s out of your control,” he added.

The Spurs will face the Thunder in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals on Wednesday in Oklahoma City. Tipoff is at 7:30 p.m., and the game will stream on Peacock and YouTube TV.
