An investigation is underway after a Saginaw police officer shot a man while serving a warrant in a residential neighborhood.
SAGINAW, Texas — Saginaw police shot and injured a man while they were attempting to serve an arrest warrant, the department confirmed.
8TV aerial images on Thursday afternoon showed a large police presence around a home in the 1300 block of North Creek Drive in Saginaw.
According to Saginaw police, at 7:50 a.m., officers were attempting to serve a felony arrest warrant at the home. The suspect resisted arrest and got into a physical confrontation with officers, police said.
One Saginaw officer fired their weapon, striking the suspect, officials said. He was taken to a hospital, where his condition is unknown, police said.
The Texas Rangers are investigating the shooting, and they have not yet released the name of the suspect. Saginaw police are conducting their own investigation, examining whether department policies and procedures were followed.
Officials have not yet said what charges are tied to the arrest warrant.
