Nearly 60,000 Honda and Acura vehicles recalled over rearview camera issue

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration warned the recalled vehicles’ rearview camera screen may display a distorted or blank image.

WASHINGTON — Nearly 60,000 Honda and Acura vehicles were recalled this week after the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported an issue with the cars’ rearview cameras.

“The rearview camera screen may display a distorted or blank image,” the recall report from NHTSA reads.

The recall impacts 2024 to 2025 models of the Honda Prologue and 2024 models of the Acura ZDX, both of which are electric-powered mid-size crossover SUVs. Both Honda and Acura are car divisions of the Honda Motor Company.

  • 2024-2025 Honda Prologue (44,199 cars impacted)
  • 2024 Acura ZDX (15,688 cars impacted)

Honda or Acura dealers will replace the rearview camera on the SUVs, free of charge, according to the NHTSA. Letters to drivers warning them of the issue and potential safety risks will be mailed out on July 6.

While nearly 59,887 cars were potentially involved in the recall, NHTSA estimates only about 4% of the cars actually have the defect.

As of May 7, Honda had 2,411 warranty claims related to the issue filed since 2023 and no reports of injury as a result of the camera issue.
