A new exhibit called Never Forgotten at Sabine Street Studios features updated portraits of missing people, created by forensic artists.
HOUSTON — Faces of missing people are being updated and put on display to help bring them home.
KHOU 11 photojournalist Martin Martinez went to the new exhibit, “Never Forgotten,” at Sabine Street Studios and talked to the forensic artists behind the project.
“This is an effort to keep images of missing people in the state of Texas out there to try to see if we can get the reunited with their loved ones,” said HPD Sr. Police Officer Thurston Johnson.
Johnson said a single age-progression portrait can take anywhere from a week to a month to complete.
HPD Detective Kristen N. Aloysius said it’s rewarding work.
“It feels like I’m able to help people with my art instead of just doing something for, just for fun,” she said. “I feel like it’ something that’s actually helping someone.”
One woman said her son, whose been missing for eight years, is featured in the exhibit.
“I can see that they put a lot. There was so much detail, and I’m just so thankful for that,” she said. “I love him and I miss him, I miss him.”
