The promotion comes as gas prices climb ahead of summer travel season, with national averages now above $4.50 per gallon.
WASHINGTON — As gas prices continue to climb nationwide, Circle K is rolling out a one-day fuel discount event offering drivers up to 40 cents off per gallon at participating locations across the U.S.
The convenience store chain’s “Fuel Day” promotion will take place Thursday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. local time at more than 5,000 stores nationwide.
The promotion comes as the national average gas price climbed to $4.558 per gallon, according to AAA, with prices topping $6 in some states.
Circle K’s rewards members, known as Inner Circle members, will also get early access to the discount beginning just after midnight through 3 p.m. that day.
The event is part of the company’s broader “America’s Party Stop” campaign tied to celebrations marking the nation’s upcoming 250th anniversary.
“America only turns 250 once, but our commitment to delivering real value for our customers is every day,” Louise Warner, executive vice president of North America operations for Circle K, said in a statement.
The company said the fuel promotion is expected to coincide with increased summer driving demand and higher fuel costs linked to ongoing geopolitical tensions affecting oil markets.
Circle K also announced additional summer promotions, including a $2.50 meal deal pairing a Roller Grill item with a Polar Pop or small Coca-Cola beverage, along with a $2.50 budget-tier car wash package at participating locations.
The retailer said it will also launch a “Fuel Your Summer Sweepstakes” for rewards members beginning May 7, with 250 winners receiving Circle K gift cards through July 4.
Part of the Fuel Day campaign will support the Children of the Fallen Patriots Foundation, which provides college scholarships to military children who lost a parent in the line of duty. Circle K said it will donate 10% of profits earned on Thursday, up to $250,000, with additional customer donation opportunities planned through June 30.
