A man was shot and killed Wednesday after he allegedly attacked four people inside of a Richardson restaurant with a knife, police said.

RICHARDSON, Texas — Richardson police shot and killed a man late Wednesday night after authorities say he attacked four people with a knife inside a restaurant.

Police responded around 10 p.m. Wednesday to Good Vibes Bar & Grill, located in the 2100 block of East Buckingham Road, regarding a report of a man with a knife threatening to harm people, the Richardson Police Department said in a press release.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found a man standing outside a restaurant with a knife, according to the release. Officers were also informed that there were several victims located inside the restaurant, police said.

Crews on scene gave verbal commands for the suspect to drop the knife, but the suspect refused to do so, the release states. Two officers then fired their weapons, striking the suspect, police said. The suspect recieved medical care and was transported to the hospital, where he later died, officials say.

The four victims injured in the attack inside the restaurant were also transported to the hospital, according to police. The extent of their injuries is not clear.

In a Facebook post, Good Vibes Bar & Grill said the incident shook up the restaurant’s staff. It will be closed Thursday and will reopen Friday.

“This was extremely unnecessary and I pray for resilience, healing and steadfast love for all involved,” the post states. “We are strong and we will persevere!”

Richardson Police say there is no continued threat to the public. The attack and officer-involved shooting remain under investigation.
