It appears that the Neiman Marcus store in downtown Dallas will remain open for at least a little while longer, and city officials continue to hope they can secure a long-term future for the retailer.
Parent company Saks Global LLC detailed in recent bankruptcy filings which leases it intends to retain nationwide as it navigates Chapter 11 reorganization. They included those associated with the flagship Dallas store on Main Street.
The future of the Main Street Neiman’s has been in question since Saks initially announced in February 2025 plans to close the store. Saks reversed course the next month, pledging to keep the store open through the holiday season, after pressure from real estate leaders and city officials. The company has suggested using the space for something new, such as an art gallery, fashion and event center or fashion incubator.
If the Neiman Marcus store remains open, it would represent a much-needed win for downtown Dallas ahead of the pending departures of two corporate giants in AT&T Inc. and Fifth Third Bank. AT&T is moving its corporate headquarters to Plano in the years ahead while Fifth Third, which bought Comerica, is departing the eponymous tower in downtown in the coming months.
