TPWD: Search continues for 81-year-old woman who became lost in Texas park

According to Texas Parks and Wildlife, the woman became lost Tuesday afternoon.

AUSTIN, Texas — The search continues for an 81-year-old woman who became lost Tuesday afternoon on a trail at Enchanted Rock State Natural Area, according to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.

The park is just north of Fredericksburg.

Officials said the woman was reported missing around 3 p.m. Tuesday on the Loop Trail at the state natural area.

TPWD officers, Enchanted Rock staff, Texas Game Wardens, Willow City Volunteer Fire and Rescue, Fredericksburg Fire/EMS and other first responders searched for the woman into the night.

The search was suspended after dark when storms moved into the area, making conditions unsafe for crews to continue.

Texas Parks and Wildlife Department staff remained on site overnight and tried aerial searches, but weather conditions hade the search difficult.

At this point, we don’t know the woman’s identity or have a photo.  We’ll post additional information as it’s released.
