Houston’s Freedom Over Texas event will feature Keith Urban and more on Independence Day.
The City of Houston announced a star-studded lineup on Monday ahead of this year’s Freedom Over Texas event happening this Fourth of July.
During a news conference on Monday, Mayor John Whitmire announced country music superstar Keith Urban will headline the event.
“You know, some of my grown daughters and their friends heard me talking about Keith Urban, and everyone’s excited,” he said. “So I’m excited.”
Coinciding with America’s 250th birthday and a busy day for the FIFA World Cup, organizers say they’re expecting thousands of visitors.
Opening for Keith Urban, San Angelo-based Los Lonely Boys and rock band Collective Soul also joined the lineup.
“Freedom Over Texas is one of Houston’s most exciting traditions, and this year, we’re making it bigger and better. We’re proud to bring an incredible lineup to our city for a Fourth of July celebration unlike any other,” Mayor Whitmore said.
City officials also stressed over safety for the event, emphasizing that police and fire teams will be fully staffed for the holiday crowd.
Tickets are $15 for adults and children under 12 years old are free to enter. You can pre-purchase tickets and learn more about the event here.
