20-year-old man killed in Humble-area shooting; teen girl may be involved

A 20-year-old man was killed in a shooting at a Humble-area apartment complex. Harris County deputies say a 17-year-old girl may have been involved.

HUMBLE, Texas — A 20-year-old man was shot and killed at an apartment complex in northeast Harris County Thursday night, and investigators believe a 17-year-old girl who may have been in a dating relationship with him could be connected to the shooting.

The shooting happened around 9:15 p.m. at The Henry at Woodland Hills apartment complex in the Humble area, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies investigating possible domestic violence connection

Investigators said deputies responding to the apartment complex found the 20-year-old man passed out with gunshot wounds.

Witnesses told deputies they heard the man and a 17-year-old girl arguing before gunshots rang out. Witnesses also reported seeing a dark-colored car leave the area after the shooting.

According to investigators, the 17-year-old girl later returned to the apartment complex in the same vehicle and told deputies she was there when the man was shot.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office said investigators believe the two may have been involved in a dating relationship.

“We don’t believe that there’s any other outstanding suspects at this time,” Sgt. Gregory Pinkins with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office said.

Pinkins also said, “We haven’t located a gun at this time, and we believe the female may have been involved in the shooting.”

Investigators added, “We believe they in some type of dating relationship.”

Victim died at the scene

Authorities said EMS crews attempted to save the man, but he died at the scene a short time later.

No arrests had been announced as of Friday morning. The investigation remains ongoing.
