2 people killed near Dallas home, prompting overnight SWAT standoff, police say

A double fatal shooting led to a police standoff in a Dallas neighborhood, police said in a press release. The incident is under investigation.

DALLAS — Two people were killed in an overnight shooting, prompting a SWAT standoff in a Dallas neighborhood, police said. 

Officers responded to a shooting around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, May 17, in the 6600 block of Emhouse Street, according to a press release from the Dallas Police Department. When police arrived, they found two men shot and killed at the location, the release states. 

A male suspect then barricaded himself at the scene, police said. SWAT was notified and responded to the scene, and the suspect was taken into custody without incident, officials said. 

Police are investigating the incident.
