WATCH: Six Flags Over Texas testing record-breaking ‘Tormenta Rampaging Run’ roller coaster

The park recently shared a teaser video showcasing ongoing testing for the massive “giga dive coaster,” which is scheduled to debut in 2026.

ARLINGTON, Texas — Six Flags Over Texas is building anticipation for what could become one of the most ambitious roller coasters in the world, offering fans a new look at its upcoming attraction, Tormenta Rampaging Run.

The park recently shared a teaser video on X, showcasing ongoing testing and construction for the massive “giga dive coaster,” which is scheduled to debut in 2026. The video quickly generated excitement among coaster enthusiasts, garnering nearly 30,000 views as the Arlington theme park continues work on the record-breaking ride.

According to the park, Tormenta Rampaging Run will stand 309 feet tall and reach speeds of up to 87 mph, making it the tallest, fastest, and longest dive coaster ever built.

The attraction is themed around the “Running of the Bulls” tradition and will anchor a newly designed Spanish-inspired area called Rancho de la Tormenta. Riders will ascend more than 300 feet before plunging down a 285-foot, 95-degree, beyond-vertical drop.

Six Flags says the coaster is expected to break six world records, including:

  • Tallest dive coaster
  • Fastest dive coaster
  • Longest dive coaster
  • Highest 95-degree drop
  • Tallest vertical loop
  • Highest Immelmann inversion

The ride is being manufactured by the Swiss coaster company Bolliger & Mabillard, known for designing major attractions at theme parks around the world.

The project also represents a major transformation for the park’s Spain section, replacing the former La Vibora roller coaster, which closed in 2024 after nearly four decades of operation.

The amusement park also announced that it will be giving the Mr. Freeze ride’s queue a complete refurbishment. Park goers can expect to see new scenes and effects in the ride’s chilly warehouse-style queue later in 2026.
