A major road closure is coming to State Highway 225 this weekend.
HOUSTON — The Texas Department of Transportation will close a stretch of State Highway 225 in Houston this weekend for pavement repairs, the agency announced Thursday.
The full closure runs from Preston Avenue to Center Street on the Pasadena Freeway, beginning at 9 p.m. Friday, May 1, and lasting through 5 a.m. Monday, May 4.
The work is part of a $22.2 million project to make improvements to Highway 225 between Beltway 8 East and Miller Cutoff Road.
Drivers will be detoured via the Bearle Street/Preston Road exit ramp and directed to continue along the eastbound frontage road, re-entering the main lanes after Robin Street.
TxDOT is asking drivers to plan ahead. Delays are expected throughout the weekend, and officials are encouraging drivers to seek alternate routes where possible. The agency also reminded pedestrians and cyclists to use extra caution near any active construction activity in the area.
