Rockwall police arrest Rowlett officer for alleged assault

The officer and an adult woman were each arrested in the assault, which took place in a late-night establishment in Rockwall, police say.

ROCKWALL, Texas — A police officer with the Rowlett Police Department has been arrested along with another person in connection with an alleged assault in Rockwall, according to authorities.

The Rockwall Police Department said it received a report April 19 from a woman who alleged she was assaulted during the early morning hours at an establishment in the 2800 block of Ridge Road.

Following what police described as a “thorough investigation,” detectives obtained arrest warrants for 35-year-old Marquale Pierson, the officer, and 35-year-old Gabrielle Pierson. Both are charged with assault causing bodily injury, a Class A misdemeanor.

Investigators said Pierson was a police officer with the Rowlett Police Department at the time of the alleged assault.

Both suspects were arrested the morning of May 1 and booked into the Rockwall County Detention Center, police said.

“The Rockwall Police Department appreciates the cooperation and assistance of the Rowlett Police Department during this investigation,” the department said in a statement, adding that the case remains under investigation by its Criminal Investigation Division.

WFAA has reached out to the Rowlett Police Department for comment and confirmation of Pierson’s current status with the department, but has not received a response.
