HOUSTON — A longtime neighborhood staple in northwest Houston is closing its doors after 15 years in business.
In a message posted to Facebook on Friday, the family behind House of Fries on Antoine announced it was their last day.
In the post on Facebook, the restaurant’s owners reflected on the challenges they faced alongside the city, through storms, freezes and everything in between. They said that Houston consistently showed up for them in return.
“Over fifteen years, we have watched Houston grow and we have watched our customers grow with us,” the owners wrote. “People who came in on first dates and later walked in wearing wedding rings. Families who used to bring their little ones in for milkshakes, and those same kids are teenagers now, still coming through the drive-thru. Regulars who have been with us from day one and know the menu by heart. You became part of our story, and we hope we became a small part of yours.”
Although the post didn’t give a reason for the closing, it did mention the restaurant’s founders, Joe and Myriam, are retiring.
“To Joe and Myriam, congratulations on your retirement,” the message read. “You built something real, something people loved, and you did it with your hands and your hearts every single day for fifteen years. You deserve every bit of what comes next.”
In their final message to customers, the family expressed deep gratitude, thanking everyone who supported the business.
“You are the reason this place became what it did,” they wrote, adding that being part of the Antoine Drive community was “one of the greatest privileges of our lives.”
