MESQUITE, Texas — Mesquite police have charged a 24-year-old man with capital murder for the death of a 4-month-old infant.
According to police, officers were dispatched May 9 to the 4000 block of Towne Crossing Boulevard where paramedics were treating an unconscious infant. The Mesquite Fire Department performed lifesaving measures before transporting the baby to the hospital, where they later died.
During the investigation, police said they discovered the infant had sustained multiple injuries.
Investigators said they gathered enough evidence to arrest Jayeshaun Spencer, 24, on a charge of capital murder of person under the age of 10.
Authorities have not said whether Spencer is related to the infant and the name of the infant has not yet been released.
According to jail records, bond has not yet been set for Spencer.
