Harris County deputies say a man was charged with murder after a deadly shooting tied to a child pickup on Blue Timbers Court.
HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — A man has been charged with murder after a deadly shooting on Tuesday in a northeast Harris County neighborhood, according to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.
The shooting happened on Blue Timbers Court, just east of C.E. King Parkway and south of East Little York Road.
Gonzalez identified the victim as Marlon Sanders, 36. The defendant was identified as Gary Davis, 38.
According to Gonzalez, the victim’s wife had previously been involved in a relationship with Davis while separated from Sanders. During that separation, she had a baby with Davis.
Gonzalez said the woman allowed the infant to visit Davis for a couple of days. When she and Sanders went to pick up the child, Davis allegedly rushed outside and shot Sanders while he was standing near his vehicle in the roadway.
No one else was injured during the shooting, according to investigators.
Precinct 3 deputies responded to the scene. Sanders was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Harris County Sheriff’s Office crime scene investigators and homicide detectives also responded to investigate the shooting.
Gonzalez said Davis was arrested and charged with murder in connection with Sanders’ death. He was booked into the Harris County Jail.
The sheriff also credited multiple units involved in the investigation and arrest, including the Violent Criminal Apprehension Team, K-9 units and Air Support.
