HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — An investigation is underway after a homeowner in northwest Harris County fatally shot a man who was reportedly breaking into their home, according to Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman.
This happened at a home on Spring Creek Oaks Court, which is in a neighborhood off T.C. Jester Boulevard near Louetta Road. The constable first posted about the incident on social media at 5:28 a.m.
Herman said the homeowner confronted the suspect after he got into the home through the back door. At some point, the homeowner opened fire and the suspect ran off.
The constable’s office said the suspect was found in a bayou area behind the home with a gunshot wound. EMS was called to the scene, but the suspect ultimately died, according to Herman.
The homeowner has been detained as the investigation continues. It was not immediately clear what charges, if any, the homeowner will face.
