Dallas’ newest tasting menu offers an immersive, punk-themed dinner. Here’s what it will cost you

Punk Noir is Dallas’ newest tasting menu-only restaurant, with a provocative concept that “challenges the conventions of fine dining.”

DALLAS — Dallas’ newest tasting-menu-only restaurant will open next month in the Design District, offering a subversive fine dining experience, according to a press release from the restaurant.

Punk Noir will serve a 20-course tasting menu in a building with an immersive, multi-room design, the release states. James Beard Award-winning Chef RJ Cooper will lead the restaurant, which is owned by Dallas natives John McKeel and his sons, Cole and Clay McKeel.

The restaurant will open on Tuesday, June 2 at 139 Turtle Creek Blvd., according to the release. A meal at Punk Noir will cost $295 per person.

“Punk Noir is fine dining without the pretense, where hospitality is unconventionally perfect and personality is part of the experience,” Cole McKeel said. “It’s our love letter to Dallas, designed for those who crave something unique—where punk aesthetics and artistry ignite the senses and create a space to rebel in elegance.”

The design of the restaurant is “cinematic and enigmatic,” according to the release. The lounge space is anchored by a graffiti mural from local contemporary artist Michael Shellis. The 7,800-square-feet space is designed as an immersive journey and only offers 26 seats per seating with two to three seatings per night.

Guests will move through the restaurant throughout the night, from a communal dining room to an open kitchen and a dining room decorated with chandeliers.

The tasting menu, which is subject to change, will start with an “agrarian prologue,” progressing toward the ocean, which builds to themes of fire and transformation, concluding with unexpected pairings “designed to challenge and resolve the palate in equal measure,” the release states.

The attached Noir Lounge features seating for 64 people and serves craft cocktails with “mini tasting menus.”

“Punk Noir is irreverent fine dining,” says owner John McKeel. “We are here to challenge the norms of traditional dining and turn expectations on their head. This is an experience that is surprising, provocative, entertaining, and deeply delicious.”
