DALLAS — Dallas City Council has approved yet another Atmos gas rate increase for residents.
The rate will increase Dallas residents’ monthly bills by just under $10 per month, according to the council agenda. This comes on top of last year’s increase of almost $8 per month, WFAA previously reported.
As of May of 2025, Atmos had increased rates in Dallas annually by $27.9 million, leading to the almost $8 per month hike in Dallas residents’ gas bills.
The reason for these hikes, Atmos said in a filing to the city council, is increases in operating costs regarding safety-related features for a new plant.
This year’s rate increase would bring an additional $34.1 million to Atmos revenue annually, which is $4 million less than what the company had originally requested. The new $10 rate hike will go into effect on June 1, 2026.
