Carlos Correa out for season due to injury

Correa was a late scratch for Tuesday night’s game. Reports came out on Wednesday that he was injured and will miss the rest of the season.

HOUSTON — Astros shortstop Carlos Correa will miss the rest of the 2026 season due to an injury he sustained in the batting cages before a game against the Dodgers on Tuesday.

Reports on social media said Correa was spotted on crutches in the Astros’ clubhouse on Wednesday, when he told reporters he tore a tendon in his ankle.

Correa was scratched from Tuesday night’s game due to a left ankle injury. Manager Joe Espada said Correa was injured while taking swings in the batting cage before the game.

“He was just getting his swings in and suffered (the injury) while he was taking a swing,” Espada said.

According to reports, Correa will undergo surgery soon and will miss six to eight months.

It was the second straight day that Houston scratched a player about an hour before the game. Catcher Yainer Diaz was removed from the lineup Monday after injuring his oblique during batting practice.
