HOUSTON — A North Harris County family is pleading for help after they say their 5-pound Yorkie mix disappeared after a maintenance crew entered their apartment to change the locks. The dog, named Fancy, has now been missing for two days, and the family says she urgently needs medication for seizures.

The incident happened near Ella Boulevard and Kuykendahl Road.

Sharron Cole and her husband, Todd Joice, said they are devastated by Fancy’s disappearance and fear for her safety.

“I am devastated, brokenhearted. It’s just… Lord,” Cole said. “She’s a 5-pound Yorkie poo, 5 years old, gray and silver hair.”

According to the family, Thursday started like any other day. They left their apartment and without knowledge the maintenance crews came to change the locks.

When they returned home, they realized something was wrong.

“About five or ten minutes later, Pumpkin said, ‘I don’t hear Fancy,’” Joice said.

The couple said panic quickly set in after they discovered Fancy was missing.

“They broke the window, and she wasn’t even in there,” Joice said.

Cole said losing Fancy has been heartbreaking.

“Now my baby is gone. I want my baby back,” said Cole.

The apartment complex, Excelsior on the Park, told KHOU 11 that the property’s new manager has been there for about two months. The manager said the couple never had a lease, had not paid rent in the past two months and had not recently been in the office.

The manager also said maintenance workers did not see the dog when it allegedly slipped out.

In a statement, the apartment complex said employees are “Actively looking for the dog” and are also working with neighboring properties to help search.”

The family said they are focused on bringing Fancy home safely.

“I don’t know what is going on here. We just want our dog back,” Cole said.

The family said Fancy’s medical condition makes the situation even more urgent. They say the dog takes medication for seizures and may not survive long without it.

“If someone got her, take care of her. I don’t know how long she will last without her medications,” Cole said.

For now, the family is posting flyers around the area and hoping someone recognizes Fancy and helps reunite them with their dog.
