Plans for a new four-story parking garage in the Fort Worth Stockyards are moving forward after receiving zoning approval, offering the potential for new infrastructure in a bustling area that’s usually swarming with people and cars.
The family behind bootmaker M.L. Leddy’s proposed replacing an existing surface parking lot with a $14 million, four-story parking garage at 115 NW 25th Street and 2458 Ellis Ave. to help meet the elevated parking demand in the Stockyards. The area sees about 10 million visitors a year.
Mark Dunlap, general manager of M.L. Leddy’s, said in a statement that initial construction work should start in late July, after the FIFA World Cup, and wrap up in summer 2027. But the conversation about the parking garage started years ago, he said.
The Franklin family cited a 2023 study by the city that showed overcapacity and circulation issues in the Stockyards along Ellis Avenue, Exchange Avenue and Northwest 25th Street, with parking at more than 100% capacity.
