North Texas city council member arrested, charged with bribery, police say

Westworth Village Police say council member Halden David Griffith was arrested Friday afternoon

WESTWORTH VILLAGE, Texas — A North Texas city council member has been arrested and charged with bribery, according to Westworth Village police.

In a press release, police say council member Halden David Griffith was arrested Friday at 1 p.m. Police say this is related to a felony bribery investigation that began earlier this month but have not disclosed the incident that led to the arrest.

“The city received serious accusations from several citizens that a current elected official, and possibly others acting in concert, on Election Day violated your Constitutional rights to a fair election,” says Westworth Village Mayor. L. Kelly Jones. “These accusations must not be taken lightly; duty requires they be fully investigated.”

Police say the investigation is ongoing and has been referred to the Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney’s Office for review and prosecution.

As of Friday afternoon, Griffith remains in the Tarrant County Jail, and bond has not been set.
