One of Houston’s most iconic restaurants reopens Friday after multi-year closure

The Spindletop Restaurant downtown shut down during COVID.

One of Houston’s most iconic restaurants reopens on Friday.

It’s the Spindletop at the Hyatt Regency downtown. The rotating restaurant on the hotel’s 31st floor had been shut down during the COVID pandemic. The restaurant offers 360-degree panoramic views of Houston, making a full rotation every 45 minutes.

It opened in 1972 and became known as the setting for marriage proposals, anniversaries, first dates and so much more.

If you plan to try to dine there now that it’s reopening, call ahead. You’ll need a reservation.
