Keller ISD approves proposed closure of three intermediate schools

Bear Creek Intermediate, Parkwood Hill Intermediate, and Trinity Meadows Intermediate will all close beginning in the 2027-2028 school year.

KELLER, Texas — Keller ISD Board of Trustees has approved the proposed closure of three intermediate schools during Thursday night’s board meeting.

Bear Creek Intermediate, Parkwood Hill Intermediate, and Trinity Meadows Intermediate will all close beginning in the 2027-2028 school year under the school’s consolidation plan.

The plan was constructed of a joint committee known as the Long Range Planning and Citizens Bond Advisory Council of over 100 members of parents, community members, teachers, and staff.

As WFAA previously reported,  under the consolidation plan, Keller ISD will save $3 million each year, significantly reduce the number of transportation routes, reduce capital improvement costs by $39 million, increase campus utilization rate by 80 percent overall, and increase stability of future feeder patterns.

The plan will also align campus grade configurations across the district with elementary schools servicing Pre-K thru 5th grade, middle schools servicing 6th thru 8th grades, and high school servicing 9th thru 12th grades, the district said.

The consolidation plan was revised recently to remove Shady Grove Elementary from the proposal and keep it open, despite concerns from parents in the area.
