The Dallas County Commissioners’ Court will decide on the funding at its regular meeting May 19.
DALLAS — Dallas County officials are considering giving money to several organizations to help fund transportation vouchers for those seeking treatment for substance abuse.
The organizations—Homeward Bound, Inc., Mercy Me 2 Transitional Services, NEXUS Family Recovery Center, and Your Discovery Place—could receive between $7,500 and $20,000 to fund transportation vouchers, according to county documents.
The Dallas County Commissioners’ Court will decide on the funding at its regular meeting May 19.
The vouchers would cover “allowable treatment-related travel within Dallas County,” the documents say.
Patients must be Dallas County residents to get the vouchers.
If approved, the money would come from the Texas Opioid Abatement Fund Council, Community-based Opioid Recovery Efforts (CORE) Grant Program, according to county documents.
