North Texas homeowner shoots, kills man trying to break into home, sheriff’s office says

A homeowner in Hopkins County shot a man, who allegedly broke a glass door and reached inside, according to the sheriff’s office.

HOPKINS COUNTY, Texas — A man is dead after being shot by a homeowner in Hopkins County, according to the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office. 

Officials say deputies were called to a home in northern Hopkins County after getting reports of a shooting. 

Deputies say investigators watched a Ring Doorbell Camera video that showed a man, later identified as Buck Clary, hitting the glass of the front door while yelling. 

Officials say Clary was able to break a portion of the glass and reached into the home. The homeowner then shot at Clary through the door and hit him. 

Police say Clary was taken by the Hopkins County EMS to a local medical facility where he died. 

Hopkins County officials say the investigation is ongoing.
