Spotify is letting you look back at 20 years of personal listening history

Spotify’s new “Your Party of the Year(s)” lets users revisit their entire music history, from their first streamed song to their all-time most-played artist.

NEW YORK — Spotify is giving its users the ultimate nostalgia trip.

The streaming platform launched “Spotify 20: Your Party of the Year(s),” a look at never-before-shared data about each user’s complete listening history on the platform.

It’s part of a broader celebration marking 20 years since Spotify’s founding.

The feature reveals the date a user first joined Spotify, the first song they ever streamed, their all-time most-streamed artist and the total number of unique songs they have listened to since joining. Users also receive a personalized playlist of their top 120 all-time tracks, complete with individual play counts, which can be saved directly to their library.

“Party of the Year(s)” is a twist on what has become one of streaming’s most anticipated annual rituals: Spotify Wrapped.

Since debuting in 2015 and evolving into its current shareable format around 2017, Wrapped has become a cultural phenomenon each December. The year-end feature compiles each listener’s top songs, artists, genres and podcasts from the previous 12 months, along with personality-style summaries and comparative statistics.

For longtime users, that means the feature can surface listening data stretching back more than a decade.

How to find it

The feature is accessible on mobile only.

Users can find it in the Spotify app. If you don’t see an icon on the home page, search “Spotify 20” or “Party of the Year(s),” or go to spotify.com/20 from a mobile browser.

Spotify’s editorial team has also curated a selection of global playlists tied to the anniversary, available in the same hub. Spotify did not specify how long “Party of the Year(s)” will remain accessible.

Spotify’s 20th anniversary

The launch caps off a series of anniversary features Spotify has rolled out in recent weeks, including a look at the most streamed songs and artists of all time.

Spotify has grown substantially since its launch in 2006, expanding into one of the world’s dominant audio platforms, with a reported 751 million users and 290 million subscribers in more than 184 markets. The platform has also moved well beyond music, building out a significant podcast business and, more recently, investing in audiobooks.
