$5,000 reward offered for rifle, ballistic vest stolen from unmarked patrol car, GCSO says

GALVESTON COUNTY, Texas — The Galveston County Sheriff’s Office is offering a $5,000 reward for a rifle with a suppressor, a ballistic vest, and a deputy’s duty belt that were reportedly stolen from an unmarked law enforcement vehicle.

“We are urging whoever is in possession of these items to return them immediately,” GCSO said in a social media post. “These are law enforcement-issued items and pose a significant threat to public safety if in the wrong hands.”

The sheriff’s office said the burglary happened on May 8 and they recovered fingerprints from the vehicle.

If you know who might have these stolen items, you’re asked to contact the sheriff’s office at 409-766-2332 option 2, or Texas City police at 409-948-2525. You can also submit tips anonymously through Galveston County Crime Stoppers’ website.

Information that leads to the stolen items being recovered or the arrest of those responsible could lead to a $5,000 reward.
