Southeast Houston hair salon targeted in unusual break-in that left owner in tears, she says

A southeast Houston barbershop and salon is out about $8,000 after a thief found a creative and destructive way to get inside.

HOUSTON — A family-owned hair salon and barbershop in southeast Houston is out about $8,000 after a thief sawed through a wall to break into the business, the owners said.

Perfect Cut Beauty Salon has been family owned and operated for 26 years, owner Elia Gonzalez said.

Gonzalez said she arrived at the shop last Monday and found it ransacked.

“When I opened the door and saw everything a total disaster I had to cry,” Gonzalez said. “I cried because all of my things were gone.”

Gonzalez said she later discovered how the thief got inside the buisness.  They cut through the back wall.

“Yeah, I think they used a saw because they cut out the whole wall,” she said.

The thief also cut through a chain-link fence to reach the back wall, Gonzalez said.

Gonzalez said the thief stole barbers’ and beauticians’ equipment totaling about $8,000, along with other items including brushes and combs.

Gonzalez said the timing has been especially difficult because business has been slow and replacing the equipment will be costly.

She said she hopes anyone with information about the break-in will contact police.
