Richardson Police say the shooting happened after a reported robbery at a business on East Belt Line Road.
RICHARDSON, Texas — One person has been hospitalized after they were shot during an encounter with officers Monday afternoon, Richardson Police say.
Police say officers responded at 4 p.m. to a reported robbery call at a business in the 1400 block of East Belt Line Road. Police say officers were told that the suspect was armed and had left the scene on foot.
Officials say officers found an individual who matched the suspect’s description walking east of the business and tried to make contact with them. Police say the suspect was shot during the encounter, but didn’t say who shot them.
The suspect was hit and taken to a nearby hospital, police said. Officers have not released the suspect’s condition, no officers were injured.
As of Monday afternoon, both eastbound and westbound lanes of Belt Line Road are closed between North Plano Road and North St. Johns Drive.
Richardson police say this is an ongoing investigation and will provide any updates as they are confirmed.
