Dolly Parton updated fans on her health Monday, announcing Las Vegas show cancellations due to treatment effects.
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Dolly Parton provided a health update Monday afternoon, saying she is responding well to treatment and improving each day. Still, she said it will take some time before she is “up to stage-performance level.”
As a result, she is canceling her shows in Las Vegas.
Parton said some medications and treatments leave her feeling “swimmy-headed,” and she wants those effects to subside before carrying equipment and preparing for performances.
She compared her condition to a classic car.
“When they raised the hood on this old antique, they realized I need to rebuild my engine, and that my transmission is slipping,” she explained. “My oil pan is leaking and my muffler’s busted, and my shocks and pistons need to be replaced.”
Parton said she has long dealt with kidney stones, and that her immune and digestive systems have been “out of whack” over the past three years. She said doctors are working to “rebuild those.”
Dolly said doctors have assured her that everything she has is treatable.
“I just want you to know that I thank you for standing by me, and I will always love you,” she said.
Last October, she revealed she was dealing with some health issues, prompting her to postpone her Las Vegas residency at the time.
She said she had neglected her health while she took care of her late husband Carl Dean, who died in 2025 at 82. Parton said at the time that she canceled a few things to stay closer to home and stay closer to the Vanderbilt Hospital, where she said she is undergoing treatments “here and there.”
