Police reportedly found the child’s shoe near the pond and jumped in. They found the child unresponsive.
CONROE, Texas — A toddler died after being recovered from a pond at a Conroe apartment complex Thursday afternoon, according to police.
Conroe police said it happened at an apartment complex on Westview which is near I-45 and Wilson Road. Officers were sent there on reports of a missing 3-year-old at around 1:15 p.m.
Officers searched and found a fenced pond on the northwest side of the complex with a partially open gate and a child’s shoe near the water. They jumped into the pond and began searching. After around ten minutes, the child was recovered unresponsive and rushed to a local hospital. That’s where the child was pronounced dead.
No names or further details have been released, as the investigation is ongoing.
The Conroe Police Department asked that the community keep the family and all those involved in their thoughts and prayers.
