HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — A wrong-way driver on the West Sam Houston Tollway was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated early Saturday morning, according to Harris County Pct. 5 Constable Terry Allbritton.
The constable said the driver was driving south in the northbound lanes of the tollway near Hammerly Boulevard before crashing into the off ramp wall at Clay Road.
The driver was evaluated at the scene and deputies determined he was driving while intoxicated.
During the investigation, deputies reportedly also found a gun on the floorboard of the driver’s side. Allbritton said the driver also faces a charge of unlawful carry of a firearm.
