Woman hit, killed by car on East Freeway, HPD says

Police said the woman had gotten out of the car to get fresh air after some type of disturbance.

HOUSTON — A woman was hit and killed by a car on the East Freeway after she had gotten out of her own car during an argument late Saturday night, Houston police said.

The crash happened around 11:36 p.m. on the freeway headed east near Uvalde Road.

The Houston Police Department said there was some type of disturbance in the woman’s vehicle when she asked the driver, a family member, to pull over so she could get fresh air. That’s when HPD said the woman stepped into active lanes of traffic and was hit.

Police said the car that hit the woman stayed at the scene. HPD said that driver was being investigated for a DWI.

We don’t yet know the relationship between the woman and the driver of the car she was in.
