Houston police said she fell off a jet ski on Tuesday. She didn’t resurface.
HOUSTON — A woman’s body has been recovered after she fell off a jet ski and didn’t resurface on Lake Houston Tuesday afternoon.
“I am deeply saddened to learn that the young woman who went missing on Lake Houston hear Alexander Deussen Park has been found deceased,” read a post from the Office of Commissioner Rodney Ellis in part. “My heart goes out to her family, her loved ones, and everyone affected by this tragic loss.
Houston police confirmed the discovery. The body was found between 10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Thursday. Her identity hasn’t been released.
On Tuesday, Houston Police Department Captain Kenneth Campbell told KHOU 11 there were three people on the jet ski when a 20-year-old woman who was on the back fell off and didn’t come back up to the water’s surface. Police said the other two riders looked for her and called 911.
Investigators said they believe the woman who was missing wasn’t wearing a life jacket.
It appears to be a “tragic accident,” according to Campbell. Authorities said it’s unclear who owns the jet ski.
Harris County officials said Alexander Deussen Park was closed Wednesday, but reopened Thursday.
