PEARLAND, Texas — A woman died after a house fire in Pearland Wednesday afternoon.

The Brazoria County Fire Marshal says a fire was engulfing a home on Wells Drive, south of Bailey Road, when firefighters arrived.

Firefighters got the woman out of the house and she was rushed to Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center, but she died. Her dog also died in the fire. She was the only one living there.

The fire marshal said they weren’t sure what caused the fire, but it was not caused by lightning.
