Woman arrested for recording in Austin H-E-B bathroom

The suspect is facing two felony charges.

AUSTIN, Texas — A 39-year-old woman has been arrested after allegedly recording a mother and her 2-year-old child inside a bathroom at an Austin H-E-B in April.

According to an arrest affidavit, the incident happened on April 9 at the H-E-B located at 1000 E. 41st Street.

The mother told police she was inside a stall in the women’s restroom with her toddler. When they left the stall, they saw the suspect, identified as Latyra Harrell, with her phone out, appearing to record the two, the affidavit said.

The child’s father also reported seeing Harrell recording on her phone as she exited the women’s restroom.

Police arrived on the scene and seized Harrell’s phone. Harrell allegedly admitted to having her phone out while in the restroom.

A search warrant was later issued, and police discovered a video on Harrell’s phone of the mother and young victim being recorded inside the bathroom, the affidavit said.

Harrell is facing two felony charges for invasive visual recording.
