WIMBERLEY, Texas (KXAN)– Tuesday morning, Wimberley baseball took the field to prepare for its state championship game in program history.
After beating Bridge City 7 – 6 on a “rush play,” in Game 2 of the Class 4 A Department II semifinals to progress to the title game, the Texans are much less than 72 hours from tipping on the area at Dell Diamond against Longview Spring Hillside. The video game is set for 9 a.m., June 6 Spring Hillside swept Brock 7 – 6 and 2 -0 to progress.
“It was do or die,” Wimberley infielder Bryson Anderson claimed of the final play. “I recognized if anything was mosting likely to take place, if there was mosting likely to be an error or anything that did happen like that, I was going to have to score.”
It had not been a very easy trip with first-year head instructor Jeremy Locke, yet the program “constantly believed baseball was something that could actually take the next step,” Locke claimed. “I didn’t been available in here and transform baseball for them or anything like that. I simply inquired to strive and do the little things.”
