The shooting happened on May 19, 2024 in the 2000 block of W. Northwest Highway, and 34-year-old Jamal Cooksey was killed, police said.
DALLAS — A 43-year-old Wichita Falls man was indicted for murder in connection with a deadly May 2024 shooting in Dallas.
Records show Elmondo Gildo was indicted by a Dallas County grand jury for the murder of 34-year-old Jamal Cooksey.
Dallas police said officers responded to the 2000 block of W. Northwest Highway for a shooting call. When officers arrived, they found Cooksey shot and lying in a parking lot. Cooksey was taken to the hospital, where he died.
Dallas police released a video of the suspect vehicle later in December 2024, and then announced in April 2025 that Gildo had been charged with murder in the case. Gildon was already in custody at Wichita County Jail for unrelated charges, DPD said.
