WHITE SETTLEMENT, Texas — The White Settlement Police department unveiled new street sign toppers across town to honor officers’ sacrifice to their community during National Police Week.

The department said each street sign topper was installed near the location where each officer served their last call of service.

On Tuesday May 5, 2026, White Settlement Police Chief Chris Cook presented a resolution, which was approved by city council, to have one sign installed near a private driveway and the two other signs installed near public roadways.

“We wanted to honor these fine officers who gave everything in service to our community,” said Cook. “The blue line signs will serve as a permanent reminder for generations of citizens and officers to always remember our heroes.”

The fifth annual memorial ceremony was held on Tuesday May 12, 2026, where each family was provided with a duplicate sign that honors their loved one who lost their life in the line of duty.

The police members who were honored in this year’s ceremony:

  • Corporal Albert Rene Gomez | End of Watch: July 27, 2021

  • Captain George Scott Monier | End of Watch: April 24, 2002

  • Captain DeWitt Wid Spivey | End of Watch: March 12, 1955

“This ceremony means the world to the families,” said Mayor Faron Young. “We are grateful as a city for the Honor Guard and Chief Cook for making this a priority to always remember our heroes who have served with honor, service, and integrity.”
