The show’s co-anchors began saying their goodbye’s to their long-time home on Monday’s broadcast.
WASHINGTON — After more than two decades broadcasting from the center of Times Square, “Good Morning America” is preparing for a major move. The ABC morning show will soon relocate a few miles south to The Walt Disney Company’s new headquarters in Hudson Square next week.
On Monday morning’s broadcast, the “Good Morning America” team began saying farewell to the studio they’ve called home since 1999 with a montage of moments from each of the co-anchor’s first days anchoring in Times Square.
“This is our home. We are here all the time…I’m gonna miss it so much,” Lara Spencer said in the clip. “I’m gonna miss watching the night before cleanup in Times Square,” George Stephanopoulos joked.
The move was first announced in October 2023.
“Good Morning America is defined by the strength of our team in front of and behind the camera, quality of our reporting, and the long, trusted relationship with our viewers. Moving all ABC News teams to our new state-of-the-art building was a strategic decision that will allow for more collaboration and innovation,” an ABC News spokesperson told the New York Post at the time.
Where is “Good Morning America” moving to?
“Good Morning America” is relocating to Disney’s new New York City headquarters, the Robert A. Iger Building. Located at 7 Hudson Square, the 22-story building spans an entire city block and includes TV studios, live audience space, wellness areas, and production offices.
“Good Morning America” will be joining “Live with Kelly and Mark” and “The View,” which have also moved their studios to the new building in the past year. A number of ESPN shows are also moving their New York productions to the site.
But “Good Morning America” isn’t the only national morning news show leaving the Times Square area this year. “CBS Mornings” also announced recently that after four years it will be relocating to the CBS Broadcast Center in West Midtown Manhattan later this year.
