Jeep Weekend 2026 returns to Crystal Beach with increased law enforcement and DWI patrols as officials aim to prevent incidents seen in past years.
BOLIVAR PENINSULA, Texas — Visitors heading to Crystal Beach for Jeep Weekend should expect a stronger law enforcement presence, as officials prepare for large crowds and emphasize safety during the popular event.
The Galveston County Sheriff’s Office says it is working with law enforcement partners ahead of Jeep Weekend 2026, scheduled for May 14 through May 17.
Where: Crystal Beach / Bolivar Peninsula
Focus: Increased enforcement and safety measures
Officials say there will be an increased law enforcement presence throughout the event, along with a zero-tolerance approach to violations.
“Please be advised that there will be an increased law enforcement presence throughout the event, and a zero-tolerance policy will be in effect; violations of the law will be enforced.”
DWI enforcement ramping up ahead of Jeep Weekend
The sheriff’s office is also launching a coordinated DWI Task Force across the Bolivar Peninsula, with enforcement planned for May 8–9 and May 14–16.
Officials said the effort is aimed at protecting lives and preventing senseless tragedies caused by impaired driving.
Deputies and officers will be actively patrolling, identifying and removing impaired drivers from the roadways.
“Drunk driving will not be tolerated. If you choose to drink and drive, you will be arrested.”
What officials are asking
Authorities are urging visitors to help keep the event safe by following rules and making responsible choices.
“To ensure a fun and safe experience, please remember to respect our beaches, adhere to traffic advisories, and drink responsibly.”
Officials are also encouraging drivers to plan ahead by designating a sober driver, using a rideshare or staying where they are.
The sheriff’s office said additional information and rules for Jeep Weekend 2026 will be shared at a later time.
Last year, Jeep Weekend saw a heavy law enforcement presence across the Bolivar Peninsula, with officials deploying hundreds of officers and enforcing strict rules, including limits on beach parking and bans on certain vehicles like ATVs and golf carts.
Authorities reported 181 arrests and the recovery of 34 firearms during the event, though officials said there were no major incidents.
The increased enforcement led to a smaller turnout, with some attendees and local businesses saying the restrictions impacted the overall atmosphere and traffic.
