A League City resident won a $7.5 million Texas Lottery scratch ticket after stopping at a gas station before a dog grooming appointment.
LEAGUE CITY, Texas — A League City resident says a quick stop at a gas station before dropping off a dog for grooming turned into a life-changing moment after winning a $7.5 million Texas Lottery scratch ticket prize.
The Texas Lottery announced the Galveston County resident claimed one of the top prizes in the Loteria Supreme scratch ticket game after purchasing the winning ticket at TL Mini Express on Tuscan Lakes Boulevard in League City.
How the winner says it happened
According to the Texas Lottery, the winner stopped at the gas station while on the way to take a dog to a grooming appointment.
“I was on my way to drop my dog off to get groomed when I stopped in a gas station to get a drink and decided to buy some scratch tickets,” the claimant said.
After winning on several tickets in a row, the person decided to buy additional scratch-offs.
“After scratching it, I realized I’d won the top prize – then my hands started shaking and I tried not to have a heart attack!” the claimant said.
The winner said the prize could help create long-term financial security for the family.
“It was very unexpected. We hope it will be a generational gift we can pass on to our daughter and set her up to live a little more securely than we were expecting.”
Where the winning ticket was sold
The winning ticket was purchased at TL Mini Express, located at 3100 Tuscan Lakes Blvd. in League City.
The Texas Lottery said the retailer could be eligible for a $10,000 bonus through the Texas Lottery’s Retailer Bonus Program for selling the winning ticket.
