A doorbell camera captured the powerful explosion that terrified neighbors in a St. Louis County subdivision.
ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — Doorbell camera video shows the exact moment a home north St. Louis County exploded Monday morning. The intense blast sent three people to the hospital.

Moment of explosion
A neighbor spoke to 5 On Your Side’s Megan Kernan, sharing this doorbell camera video that gives a frighteningly close look at the explosion.
The video shows the explosion on the left side. In just a matter of seconds, the fire blooms upwards into smoke, and the neighbor’s front door, garage and windows are blown out from the force.
Drone footage
A 5 On Your Side photographer captured firefighters hard at work throughout the day. Crews were actively dumping water and climbing over wreckage.

5 On Your Side field crews spoke with neighbors and officials about the explosion, capturing first response efforts and various shots of the damage.
More than 20 homes were damaged in the neighborhood and surrounding area.

From across the Mississippi, Pat Schwarte from Alton, Illinois captured a wide photo of the dark plume of smoke after the explosion. Neighbors closer to the explosion said the ominous cloud had them worried and asking questions as to what happened.
