Typhoon Texas hosts free swim lessons for kids June 26

On June 26 Typhoon Texas will host free kids swimming lesson in the Katy location

KATY, Texas — Typhoon Texas will offer free swim lessons for children on Thursday, June 26, from 9 to 10 a.m. as part of the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson, a global event promoting water safety.

The waterpark, located at 555 Katy Fort Bend Road next to Katy Mills Mall, is participating in the annual event to provide a fun and engaging swimming lesson.

“Our mission is to help families stay safe and confident in the water,” said John Pham, vice president of marketing for Typhoon Texas. “The event is more than just a lesson. It’s a fun, hands-on way to introduce water safety to children in an environment they already enjoy.”

Organized by the World Waterpark Association, the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson launched in 2010 to raise awareness about drowning prevention. The event brings together aquatic facilities and swim instructors around the world to teach basic swimming skills and water safety.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, drowning is the leading cause of death for U.S. children ages 1 to 4 and the second leading cause for children ages 5 to 14.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. at the park and is free for both participants and observers.

After the lesson, all guests must leave the park. However, attendees will have the option to return starting at 10:30 a.m. for a reduced admission of $39.99. The offer is valid only on June 26 and is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

More information about the event can be found here under the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson section.
