Travis County Sheriff's Office corrections officer, female relative found dead in home

TRAVIS COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) — The Travis County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday morning that it is investigating a shooting that occurred in the 8100 block of Dalmatian Lane, according to a social media post.

That area is a residential neighborhood east of Austin, near Lake Walter E Long.

According to TCSO Public Information Officer Kristen Dark, TCSO responded to a residence on Dalmatian Lane after receiving a 911 call for a welfare check around 2:07 a.m.

Deputies found two people inside the home with gunshot wounds. One was a male in his 20s and the other was a female in her teens. Dark said the deputies attempted CPR on the female, but were unsuccessful and she died at the scene.

The two deceased were relatives, Dark said. She noted that the male worked for TCSO as a corrections officer.

“Because both parties are deceased, we may never know what happened,” Dark said. “This was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public. We are not looking for a suspect.”

Travis County Sheriff Sally Hernandez was at the scene Wednesday morning to provide support to the family of the deceased, Dark said. The identities of the deceased will not be released until confirmed by the county medical examiner.
