AUSTIN (KXAN) — As summer begins to set in, Texas is hot on the recruiting trail, getting a verbal commitment from one of the best players in Louisiana over the weekend.
Dylan Berymon, a defensive lineman from Ouachita Parish in Monroe, Louisiana, said he’d be a Longhorn during his official visit, according to 247Sports.
Berymon is rated a 4-star recruit in the 2026 class by 247Sports and the No. 4 player overall in Louisiana, and the No. 14 overall defensive lineman in the country. He’s 6-foot-2 and 315 pounds, choosing the Longhorns over Purdue, Texas Tech, Arizona State and Baylor among others. Texas had 14 official visits during the June 6-8 weekend.
Over the past three seasons, Texas has sent six interior defensive linemen to the NFL, including Keondre Coburn, Moro Ojomo, T’Vondre Sweat, Byron Murphy, Alfred Collins and Vernon Broughton.

Texas also received a commitment from one of the top-rated kickers in the country for the 2026 class, Jake Collett. From Heritage High School in Ringgold, Georgia, Collett is rated No. 2 in the 2026 class by Kohl’s Professional Camps, a national leader in training for kickers, punters and long snappers. It’s named for founders Jamie, John and Andy Kohl, not the retail store.
Collett chose the Longhorns over Army West Point and UConn.
As it stands now, the Longhorns have the No. 20 overall recruiting class for 2026, highlighted by 5-star recruits quarterback Dia Bell and WR/DB Jermaine Bishop. The Longhorns are No. 1 in the rankings for the 2025 class.
